Downtown Apopka Vision Plan Public Outreach Survey

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is conducting a public outreach survey. This survey will allow people to help guide the students to create a vision plan for Downtown Apopka. 

You can help by taking the survey by scanning the QR Code above or visiting the online survey page.

UCF Public Workshop March 8, 2023 at the Apopka Community Center (VFW)

Students from the University of Central Florida's MS in Urban Planning are holding a public workshop on March 8, 2023 at 6 PM at the Apopka Community Center to collect information as part of their course work to develop a Downtown Apopka Vision Plan. 

We are proud to host our future planners from the University of Central Florida. A similar project was done with students in 2019. The public is invited to attend.

Garbage & Recycling Pickup Changes 

The following areas (listed below) will have their garbage picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays starting the week of March 6, 2023. Recycling will be picked up on Wednesdays on the "Yellow" weeks starting March 15, 2023. Bulky and yard waste pickup will not change. 

- Emerson Park
- Magnolia Oaks
- Apopka Woods
- South Apopka (South of 441 and west of Park/Clarcona)
- Coral Hills Drive
- Ocoee Apopka Road (From Bradshaw to 429)

The city is growing and we need to re-balance the routes in order to make the best use of your staff & equipment.

Orange County Clerk of Courts Hosting Operation Green Light To Help Residents Save and Get Back on the Road 

Special Message from Clerk Tiffany Moore Russell: 

- What: Operation Green Light, Orange County Clerk of Courts A Driver License Reinstatement Initiative
- When: March 20 through 24, 2023: 7:30 AM to 4 PM
- Where: Orange County Courthouse Traffic Division Suite 410
- Who: Individuals looking to save on fees, inquire about a payment plan, and have their driver’s license reinstated. 

During Operation Green Light, Orange County customers with outstanding traffic tickets and criminal fines will have an opportunity to pay overdue court obligations while saving the 25 percent collections agency surcharge. 

Customers may be eligible for a payment plan and have their suspended driver licenses reinstated if all requirements are met. While the collections agency fees are being waived, a down payment is required for a payment plan and reinstatement fees are applicable.  

Operation Green Light aims to help thousands of people in Orange County with overdue traffic tickets or criminal fines whose driver licenses have been suspended. More details are also available by calling 407-836-2316. Visit the Orange County Clerk of Courts Page to learn more.

Summer Camp at Billie Dean Community Center

Join the Apopka Parks and Recreation Department for camp beginning June 5 through July 28, 2023 at the Billie Dean Community Center. This camp is for children ages 6 through 12 and will run Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. 

Each week of camp will host 40 campers with various field trips planned throughout the summer. Camp trips may include the Apopka Splash Pad, Camp Wewa, bowling, movies, Dave & Busters, Rebounderz, and other fun activities.

Summer Camp at Camp Wewa

The City of Apopka’s Recreation department is gearing up for some summer camp fun at Camp Wewa! We offer supervised, organized, active, and fun-filled summer activities for youth and teens. Campers will have the opportunity to experience adventure activities, arts and crafts, athletics, boating, target sports, and more.

Activities Include: Archery, Arts & Crafts, Canoeing, Fishing, Low Ropes/Team Building, Nature Activities, Rock Climbing, Sports, Swimming, and more!

- Monday through Friday
- June 5, 2023 through July 28, 2023
- 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM at Camp Wewa
- There will be no camp on July 4, 2023 in observance of Independence Day.

- Apopka Residents: $150 per week and Non-City Residents: $225 per week

Overnight Camp

- Overnight Camp is Sunday through Friday
- One Week Sessions Available
- July 2 through July 28, 2023
- For tweens and teens ages 9 to 14
- Apopka Residents: $650 per week and Non-City Residents: $750 per week

Apopka Youth Council Teen Mental Wellness Townhall

On March 2, 2023 the Apopka Youth Council held a Teen Mental Wellness Townhall at Apopka City Hall in the Council Chambers. This event coincided with World Teen Mental Wellness Day. 

Our panel of experts included: Courtney Crawford, MSW, RCSWI, Dale "Dede" Eshleman, M.S., LMFT, Pastor Joel L. Polk, and Dr. Janis Modeste

This event was live streamed on the City's YouTube channel and is available for those interested in learning more about this special townhall

This St. Patrick’s Day, don’t push your luck! If you drink, don’t drive. In 2020, 37 people lost their lives in drunk-driving crashes during St. Patrick's Day. Don’t be a stat, be a sober driver: Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.
