A Successful Business Welcome

“As the second-fastest growing City in the United States, this City’s momentum is unstoppable,” said Jerome Fletcher, City Manager. “Our job is to support that growth, especially within our small business community.”

The City of North Port held another successful Business Welcome on Saturday, Feb. 18. This quarter, the City welcomed 28 new businesses. The event saw excellent turnout, with 36 percent of those businesses joining us.

The early-growth stage of a local businesses’ cycle is the single most important time to make the connection,” said Vinicia Mascarenhas, Interim Manager of City of North Port Economic Development. “This is when City staff and community partners can leave the greatest impact, helping new business make connections and uncover resources available as they venture into the North Port area market.”

We look forward to welcoming many more businesses to the City of North Port in the coming year. To view pictures from the event, click the link below.

Especially notable is North Port's status as the second fastest-growing workforce according to LendingTree.

Finally, the strength of North Port’s financials has been further validated by independent experts. The City's issuer rating and non-ad valorem bonds have increased from an Aa3 to an Aa2.

From Moody's Investors Service: “The upgrade of the issuer rating to Aa2 reflects the City's strong financial position, which is characterized by ample reserves, several years of balanced operations and strong management. The City's local economy and population is growing faster than the nation and will likely continue to grow due to the ongoing residential and commercial development in the region.”
