Recycling for City of Pensacola Sanitation Customers will resume on Monday, Oct. 3, and residents are reminded to practice good recycling habits to help ensure materials can be properly recycled.
City of Pensacola Sanitation customers should only put recyclable items in your tan recycling cans. Do not put household garbage or other nonrecyclable items in tan recycling cans.
Items that can be placed in your recycling can include:
-Aluminum cans
-Plastic bottles
-Glass (any color)
-Cardboard
-Plastics (#1 and #2)
-Newspaper and inserts
-Pet food cans (no plastic liners)
-Boxboard (cereal boxes, cracker boxes, etc.)
Items that cannot be placed in your recycling can include:
-Plastic bags (please check with local grocery stores to see if they collect plastic bags for recycling)
-Aerosol cans
-Food waste
-Linens or clothing
-Tin foil
-Waxy food containers (juice boxes, ice cream cartons, etc.)
-Styrofoam®
-Bubble wrap
-Plastic or metal hangers
-Garbage or yard waste

City of Pensacola recycling has been on hold since June 16, 2022 as the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority completed repairs to their Materials Recycling Facility. The City of Pensacola Sanitation Services Department uses ECUA's recycling facility to process recyclable materials for city sanitation customers.

Summit Boulevard Recycling Center
As a reminder, the City of Pensacola also offers a recycling drop-off center on Summit Boulevard beside Fire Station 3, providing additional recycling opportunities for residents. The center includes three containers for residents to properly dispose of recyclables including cardboard, plastic, glass and more.
The recycling drop-off center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is video monitored 24/7 to ensure proper use of the site and to deter illegal dumping of nonrecyclable materials.
Two containers are for cardboard only. Cardboard boxes must be broken down and placed through the slots on the side of the box. The third container is for other recyclable materials. Household garbage and yard waste are not accepted.
