City of Stuart Weekly - September 30, 2022

Hurricane Ian Post-Storm Summary
The City of Stuart's preparation for Hurricane Ian involved a variety of tasks including placing pumps in flood-prone areas, clearing debris from culverts and storm drains prior to the storm to help with drainage, removing loose objects, participating in Martin County Emergency Operations Center storm briefings, and distributing sandbags. After Hurricane Ian had moved into Florida and weather conditions had improved, damage assessment and debris removal/road clearing began.

Sanitation pickup was suspended on the two days the National Weather Service predicted Tropical Storm strength winds. Sanitation service resumed on Friday, Sept. 30 and sanitation crews will continue through Saturday, Oct. 1 to service the neighborhoods missed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Our area was spared catastrophic damage. Others in our state, were not so fortunate. We continue to keep those in Hurricane Ian's destructive path in our thoughts and hope those disaster relief teams that are helping in recovery efforts keep safe from harm.
