Clay County News Homes For The Holidays: Campaign Aims To Get Long-Term Shelter Dogs Adopted

December 2, 2022

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla – Clay County Animal Services is teaming up with Dr. Seuss Enterprises and the Petfinder Foundation to help long-term shelter dogs in Clay County find their forever homes this Christmas. In celebration of the 65th anniversary of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Clay County is joining the launch of the December #FindYourMax social media campaign to help some special dogs find homes and loving families.

While K-9 companion Max was forced to do the Grinch’s bidding, he knew all along that Christmas is a joyous time to share with family and friends. And finding a family of their own is exactly what all shelter dogs want. Clay County Animal Services will be highlighting some long-time shelter dogs that have had a hard time finding their forever home this December on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #FindYourMax.

Through this national media outreach effort, we hope that the hearts of dog lovers will grow three sizes this year, and Grinches in search of their own Max will give these loving pups their very own families this Christmas. If you want to provide a loving home for one of these dogs, just search #FindYourMax on Facebook and Instagram. Loving dogs available for adoption will also be featured on Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Petfinder’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

Search #FindYourMax on Facebook and Instagram today and bring home your very own “Max” this Christmas.

These loving pups and many more are available for adoption at Clay County Animal Services, located at 3984 State Road 16 West in Green Cove Springs. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visit claycountygov.com and select Animal Services under the Community Tab to view all adoptable animals at the shelter or call (904) 529-4107 for more information on adoptions.

Burrito

Burrito is a big boy, but he is super lovable and cuddly. He even knows a few tricks! If you ask him for his paw, he will formally introduce himself with a shake.

Chocolate Chip

Chocolate Chip is the best boy (just ask his shelter family). He is dog friendly and very laid back, but he still knows how to have a good time. He loves the water and a good game of fetch. Chocolate Chip is house trained, knows basic commands, and likes everyone he meets. He is looking for a family he can spend his golden years with and a warm bed to call his own.

Rivers

Rivers is a very energetic boy. He is house trained and an all-around good guy. Although he is dog friendly, he prefers to pick his new siblings.

Gus

Gus’ LOVE LANGUAGE is STAGE FIVE CLINGER! All he wants to do is curl up next to you and stare into your soul like you are the most magical human in the world for spending time with him. He gets so excited for walks, food, fluffy dog beds, and of course YOU!  He is house trained, a distinguished gentleman, and rarely pulls on the leash. He even makes direct eye contact with you while on a walk to ensure you don’t get lost from him along the way. He would make an excellent apartment pal because he doesn’t need much space, but he does enjoy daily walks.

Larry
Picture of Larry
Larry is a staff favorite and lover of all humans! His favorite things to do are lay in the sunshine, roll in the grass, check in with his favorite humans and of course, enjoy any treats you have for him. Larry also enjoys car rides and has good leash manners. He does get spunky and likes playing with other dogs very much.
