Daylight saving time is on Sunday, March 12th.

Women's History Month highlights the contributions of women to history and contemporary society. In 1978, Sonoma, California participated in Women's History Week, designed around March 8th. By 1986, 14 states had declared March as Women's History Month. State departments of education also began to encourage it as a way to promote equality in the classroom. Within a few years, thousands of communities celebrated Women's History Month. They planned programs about women's roles in history and society, with support from governors, city councils, school boards, and Congress.

International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is a UN observance on March 25th. It honors those who suffered and died as a consequence of the transatlantic slave trade, called "the worst violation of human rights in history." In over 400 years, more than 15 million men, women, and children were victims. The day also "aims at raising awareness about the dangers of racism and prejudice today."

International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) on March 31st is dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced worldwide, as well as celebrating their contributions to society. It was founded by Rachel Crandall, frustrated that the only well-known day was the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which mourns the murders of transgender people but didn't acknowledge living members of the community. The first TDOV was held in 2009. In 2014, the day was observed across the world.

Justice on the Block

Legal Services of North Florida's Justice on the Block bus will be visiting the library on March 7th from 2:30-4 PM. They will be handing out information about what they do and how to apply for services.

AmeriLife of Pensacola

Health insurance and retirement can be confusing! Experts from AmerLife of Pensacola will be here on March 9th from 5-6 PM to answer questions and help navigate the road ahead so you are prepared for your next chapter.

First-time Homebuyers' Class

Purchasing a home can be daunting and confusing! Felicia Scaife of PrimeLending will be at the library on March 18th at 10 AM to break down the steps and demystify the home-buying process in this free class open to anyone thinking of home ownership!

David Singly Concert

Singer-songwriter David Singley will be at the library on March 23rd at 6 PM to perform. His music is influenced by the great singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s. This concert is free to the public and there is no registration.

Beads, please!

What do you do with all of those extra parade beads you catch? Bring them to us! You can drop them off at the service desk any time during open hours.

Library Groups

The Mahjong Club meets at 1:30 PM on the first Tuesday of every month! Coffee and tea will be provided.

The Needlecraft Group meets at 10 AM every Wednesday.
