Library Closures

All Santa Rosa County Libraries will close at noon on Fri., Dec. 16 for quarterly staff development.

Libraries will be closed Fri. – Mon., Dec. 23 – 26, in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Christmas Around the World – Genealogy Library – 6275 Dogwood Dr., Milton

Dec. 1 – 22

From Dec. 1 - 22, stop by the Genealogy Library to see how to wish almost anyone in the world “Merry Christmas.” Correctly match the country to their phrase for Merry Christmas to be entered into a drawing for a prize. Speak with a staff member for more details. 

Saturday with Santa

Dec. 3, 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Gulf Breeze and Pace Libraries

Dec. 10, 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Milton and Navarre Libraries

Dec. 17, 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Jay Library

Santa will take a break from his preparations at the North Pole to visit Santa Rosa County Libraries. Enjoy a Christmas story and a gift from Santa. Please bring a camera if you would like a picture taken with Santa. All ages are welcome. Special thanks to area Friends of the Library groups for sponsoring this spectacular visit.

UF/IFAS Master Gardner Plant Clinic – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Stop by the Navarre Library from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Wednesdays to talk to the master gardeners about gardening and lawn concerns. For more information, contact the Santa Rosa County Extension Office at 850-623-3868 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

labARTory - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Dec. 1, 4 - 6 p.m.

Visit the Navarre Library on the first Thurs. each month from 4-6 p.m. for an open art studio. Draw, paint, make jewelry, and more. Choose your own project and experiment with different mediums. All art materials are provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library. This is a drop-in program and is open to all ages; children should be accompanied by an adult.

Page Turners - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.

Dec. 9, 12 – 1:30 p.m.

This fiction book club meets at 12 p.m. on the second Fri. of every other month beginning in Feb. for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. Get ready for great reading adventures. This month’s selection is "Girl in Disguise" by Greer Macallister. Space is limited; registration is required.

For the Win! Games Day– Milton Library – 5541 Alabama St.

Dec. 10, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Enjoy playing tabletop or board games? Join us for game day at the Milton Library on the 2nd Sat. of the month. Bring games from home or play those provided by the library. This event is open to all ages, and game groups are welcome.

Classic Movie Tuesdays – Navarre Library – 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Dec. 13. 8, 4 p.m.

Visit the Navarre Library on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for classic movies. All movies will begin at 4 p.m. and refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library. This month’s movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life” (rated PG).

The Inklings – Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St.

Dec. 13, 4 - 5 p.m.

Sixth through 10th graders are invited to read either the novel or graphic novel version of the book of the month and meet to share their ideas about it. The Inklings meets the second Tues. of the month at 4 p.m. at the Milton Library. Registration is required.

Webinar Wednesdays – Genealogy Library – 6275 Dogwood Dr., Milton

Dec. 14, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. OR 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Visit the Genealogy Library on the 2nd Wed. each month for Webinar Wednesdays. Webinars related to family history research will be shown at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with discussion following. This month’s selection is “Christmas Before Christ: Yule & Other Northern European Traditions.”

STEAM Day– Milton Library – 5541 Alabama St.

Dec. 15, 4 – 6 p.m.

Visit the Milton Library for a monthly STEAM Day! Each month will feature a different theme. Speak with a staff member for more information.

STEAMaker - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Dec. 15, 4 - 5 p.m.

Tweens and teens ages 10-17 who are interested in robotics, coding, and other tech are invited to join our STEAMaker tech club. Beginners through expert level welcome! Sign up is required.

Family Christmas Pajama Party – Jay Library – 5259 Booker Ln.

Dec. 20, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Families are invited to a pajama party at the Jay Library. Wear your pajamas, watch "The Polar Express" (rated G), and enjoy hot coco and other Christmastime treats. Bring your own pillows and blankets to get cozy during the movie.

Looking Ahead: All libraries will be closed on Mon., Jan. 2, in observance of the New Year holiday.
