City Of Tampa Mayor Weekly News - October 3, 2022

Our community was prepared for the worst from Hurricane Ian, but we were extremely fortunate to avoid major storm damages. After ensuring our city was on its feet, Tampa Police Department & Tampa Fire Rescue teams deployed down to SWFL to help our neighbors in need.

Solid Waste Department Collection Updates
Post-Hurricane Ian, City of Tampa solid waste services and operations resumed regularly scheduled collection today (Monday, Oct 3). See details for the resumption of all other Tampa Solid Waste services after Hurricane Ian, such as SWEEP, storm-related yard waste, and more.

Virtual Inspections
Always on the lookout for opportunities to improve its community-centric services, the City of Tampa's Construction Services division is excited to now offer virtual inspections for select projects. Virtual Inspections by Affidavit are now offered for AC change-outs, door and window replacements, electric for AC change-outs, electric for water heater replacement (no tankless), garage door replacements, reclaimed irrigation, water heater replacement (no tankless, no gas), re-roof final, residential solar PV – rooftop, and sewer and water service replacements.

Job of the Week
The Solid Waste team is hiring a WTE Plant Mechanic I to perform technical work involving mechanical maintenance and repair activities for a Waste to Energy facility. Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school with two (2) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical equipment, such as pumps, motors, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, is required.
