Message from Library Director Pamela Monroe

"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." — Edgar Degas

At the opening of the Cultura Tallahassee: Together We Shine exhibit, I had the delightful opportunity to chat with Carole Fiore, a cherished artist and renowned librarian. Together, we admired her piece, "Stand Up Arm in Arm." Beyond the image of three interwoven women, the piece unveils a rich tapestry of stories, with each stitch revealing its own tale.

The exhibit beautifully captures the spirit, challenges, and joys of our shared culture. Moments like these underscore the deep connection art fosters within our community. With this spirit of appreciation, there's another event I'm eager to share with you.

Join us at the FriendsArt Show in celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week (October 15-21). It will be showcased on the 2nd floor of the Main Library from October 15 to November 30.

Whether you come to explore or, as an artist, to display your own creations, our library awaits with open doors.

Amazing things are happening!
Pamela Monroe, Library Director
