We have a new instructor in the Technology & Innovation Center (TIC)! Have you met Erick, yet? Sign up for one of his classes or stop by to say hi during TIC open hours (you can also book an appointment online)! Erick is a digital artist with a passion for creativity and years of professional experience, including an internship at DC Comics (Warner Bros). He can teach you how to edit photos like a pro or to create digital masterpieces. Want to start your own comic? Ask Erick where to begin!

History of the Holocaust

January 27 is the day of remembrance for the Holocaust. Even though we are not having a program on that day, we would like to remember the event in support of the victims and survivors. Andy Greenberg will give a gut-wrenching, no-holds-barred presentation that will honor the victims and survivors of this horrible event in history.

Tween Chess Club with Street Chess

Sunday, January 21 | 2 – 3:30 p.m. | In Person | KidSpace

For tweens in grades 3-6. May the best player win! Come enjoy a game of chess where you can learn the game hands-on. Our moderator Francis from Street Chess Coalition will provide guidance and promote the value of chess as a way to increase your overall brain sharpness. Use one of our chess boards or bring your own.

“Listening to Puccini’s Rome” presented by Dr. Arman Schwartz, University of Notre Dame

This talk, from the Palm Beach Opera, explores Giacomo Puccini’s attempts to represent the Eternal City musically. In so doing, it asks what it might mean to describe an opera as ‘realistic,’ considering Tosca’s debts to earlier operatic traditions as well as its surprising anticipations of subsequent developments in twentieth-century music.
