Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava to Break Ground on Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, Make Major Announcement

MIAMI-DADE – Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, joined by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, United States Environmental Protection Agency Deputy Director Karen Fliggler, and Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department Director Roy Coley, will break ground on the expansion of the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant. 

The expansion, with an investment of $600 million to cover eight infrastructure projects, will provide an overall regional solution for the South Dade wastewater treatment system to meet future demand. This represents the first substantial capacity expansion for the plant in approximately 30 years. Mayor Levine Cava will also make a major announcement regarding Miami-Dade County’s future Industrial Reuse strategy.
