About Us:
Florida Dance Theatre, formerly Lakeland Ballet, was founded in 1993, and is a non profit organization and Polk County’s only professional dance company and training academy. Recognizing the importance of artistic influence on the development and growth of our children and community, we strive to increase awareness and appreciation of dance as a living art form, and to produce artistic quality in a wide variety of styles. The Company consists of professional dancers from around the country and apprentices who have attained a high level of proficiency. The Academy focuses on the teaching of artistic techniques, beginners through advanced. Our continuing purpose is to provide an enriching and superb multicultural experience for our community and beyond through entertainment, education, and outreach.
