The Mission of the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University is to:

Exhibit, collect, preserve and interpret an encyclopedic selection of works of art with emphasis of work by Caribbean and Latin American and 20th century American artists;

Present free and accessible programs to the broadest possible audience;

Be accessible to all segments of this community by maintaining a balance between contemporary art and traditional art and by offering diverse, multi-cultural programs and exhibitions; and

Support and enrich the educational mission in service to the University's students, faculty, staff, volunteers and alumni as well as the residents of and visitors to South Florida.

Vision: The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University envisions itself as:

A cultural beacon for South Florida, with its exhibitions and public programs integrated into the life of the community as inextricably as its schools, churches, recreational facilities and theaters

A dynamic, research-oriented university visual arts institution that is a center for interdisciplinary training

Core Values: The Frost Art Museum is dedicated to providing the highest quality programs, exhibitions, collections, educational activities and publications. Central to being part of a dynamic, growing university is the Museum's commitment to the arts in education, supporting faculty, student, and scholarly participation in research, presentation and appreciation of the visual arts.

The Frost Art Museum is a vital cultural resource in South Florida. It has a special responsibility to serve the multi-ethnic communities located in the region with services and programs of regional, national and international scope. Overall, the museum seeks to provide information, inspiration, and stimulation for its current audiences, to actively attract new audiences and to be a visionary and accessible resource for the future generations.

The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University in Miami collects, preserves, interprets, disseminates, and studies aesthetically significant visual art and artifacts from ancient times to the present, including but not limited to American, Caribbean and Latin American and 20th century American art.

These core functions of presentation, interpretation and education call for a level of activity that requires a fully staffed, adequately funded, forward-looking institution the Frost Art Museum strives to reach these goals and is proud to provide these services free to our multi-cultural community.
